Why Clean Candles

Many candle shoppers want one clear answer before they buy: what is in the jar, and what is not. That question matters because traditional candles often hide the material details that drive soot, fragrance load, and indoor air quality.

Why shoppers look for clean candles

Most people do not start with wax chemistry. They start with a problem. Their candle leaves dark residue on the jar. The room feels heavy after a long burn. The label says almost nothing about wax, wick, or fragrance. Clean candle shoppers want direct answers before they light anything in a home with kids, pets, or shared living space.

What traditional candle labels leave out

Paraffin wax is petroleum-based. Some candle buyers skip it for that reason alone. Others focus on fragrance blends. If a brand does not say whether the fragrance is phthalate-free, you have to guess. The same goes for wick construction. A clean brand should tell you the wax type, wick type, fragrance standard, and the materials it leaves out.

What we choose instead

Our soy candle line starts with 100% soy wax, direct wick disclosure, and phthalate-free fragrance standards. That does not turn a candle into a health claim. It gives you a better material standard and a cleaner starting point for home fragrance.

How to compare candles before you buy

  • Check the wax type. Soy wax and paraffin are not the same material.
  • Check the wick type. Cotton and wooden wicks burn differently.
  • Check the fragrance standard. Look for direct phthalate disclosure.
  • Check what the brand leaves out. If it never says, you still have a gap.
